On December 3, 2024, Native Future hosted an online panel discussion to celebrate Wounaan cultural revitalization.
This event focused on An Adventure of Wounaan Children and Many Birds, a children's book that demonstrates how Wounaan communities are revitalizing their language (Wounaan meu) and with it, their cultural relationships with the rivers, tropical forests, and biodiversity, such as birds, that sustains them.

But, Wounaan lands and forests are under threat from illegal logging, invasion and deforestation. In response, our Wounaan partners are working tirelessly to secure collective titles for the 7 communities that do not have the legal protection that comes with land titles. They are also monitoring the territories and reporting environmental damages to the Panamanian authorities.
In 2025, we will continue to support the Wounaan in gaining title to and protecting their traditional lands. This work will cost about $120,000 for 2025. We've already raised half of the amount and need the support of individuals such as yourself to raise the other $60,000 that we need to continue this work.
Your donation towards this effort will put a Wounaan meu copy of An Adventure of Wounaan Children and Many Birds into the hands of a Wounaan family and support our fundraising efforts.
If you would like to purchase an English or Spanish version for yourself, do so here.
Thank you!!
